Bath & Body Works | SAS purchases Day 5

December 30, 2014
I was able to visit the mall quickly today and took a chance on checking out Bath and Body Works Semi Annual Sale and finding some new.

This store only got in the new mini candle in the Black Teakwood, none of the 3 wick size…and I smelled it and it smelled like Mahogany Teakwood and Black Tie to me.  The label on the mini candle is the same as the large.

The rest of the red box covered tables still looked the same, filled with the same things I saw a few days ago, but the candle wall had a little bit of help with the addition of some (wallflower) tester candles {clear labels} and small jar candles. 50% off is still not enough off for those.

The mini candles on that wall were still priced at $1.50 and I grabbed 22 of them and after using my coupon they came down to 87 cents each.  Yay.

One of the minis rang up full price and I saw the SA override the price, but in looking at it when I got home I noticed it is a new candle yet to come.

Honeysuckle Bouquet from White Barn.

The other new thing I saw were the wallflowers in beautiful yellow and pink colors, and I saw the True Blue Spa ❥Glycolic Foot Cream was also out.

The other item I purchased was the Dark Amber cologne at 50% off for hubby taking advantage of that $20 off of $50 coupon.  I am going to miss having that when it expires in a few days.

Three weeks today we should see the first floorset of the new year and I am looking forward to seeing what Bath and Body Works has in store for us in 2015.  The new bounce back coupon promises 30 new fragrances….which would average out to at least three new a month for ten months. I am hoping for new, new… not just new names.
How about something along the line of Roses….

Bath & Body Works | Spring Candles

December 27, 2014

Normally, this time of year our test stores have received and put out the newest spring scent candles. Normally.  And while a few of the stores have confirmed to me they have them…they are not putting them out yet.  Which makes sense since right now Bath and Body Works is vying for our SAS dollars.
But being a curious lover of wax….I want to know!!

Last year we had these:

TROPICAL ESCAPE
Pineapple Mango
Beach Cabana
Tiki Beach
Carribean Escape
Oceanside
Island Margarita
Coconut Leaves
Peach Bellini

——————————————————————–
So far, We know we will see the
Brazilian Collection
of candles coming in a few weeks: (more names to come)

Candles:
Amazon Falls-

Black Teakwood-
Brazilian Blue Waters-
Mango Dragon Fruit-

And Thanks to some sweet people sharing their Canadian store finds, we are getting a glimpse of what they have coming for Spring.  Not that we will have these exact candles or label designs….it is fun to see what the B is thinking.

This line with the crimped lids….No idea what that collection will be called, I would guess White Barn Market…but whatever it is… I am a sucker for the cuteness.
So far we have seen these scents shared socially, and each photo reflects the name of who shared it.  My thanks to all who share their finds.

Bath & Body Works | Semi-Annual Sale | Day two store visit

December 27, 2014

I think I went into the Bath and Body Works store today with some great expectation of finding some kind of treasure and came away with a bit of disappointment because of that thinking and finding none.

Truth be told, $8.00 candle day ruined me.  The store then…both days since my store was lucky enough to do it twice…both days the store was jamb packed with merchandise and it made you want to check everything out.  Today, not so much. It looked empty, and junked up. I would lay it out differently for sure…if I ruled the world.  😉
I would also make it a test store.

Maybe it was because of the old dogs that were what was back and I was over them and lusted for more new…. or maybe it was because the signage and pricing was confusing. Even to me, a seasoned shopper with this company… I can’t imagine what the novice thought.  Or maybe that was my problem.  I knew what looked off and was turned off by it.

Either way, I grabbed only a few things and waited in line in the overly warm store for my turn for a yellow ducky bag…and then left.

This time of year is when the true shoppers hit the stores after the goods.  Goods to be kept for birthdays, and holidays neatly tucked in gift drawers and closets alike. Those things that will make us smile when we give the gift because we knew, we saved.
Check BBW off of that list for now.  I was told there are suppose to be two phases of SAS….I can’t begin to imagine what the second phase has in store if what I saw today was the first phase.  Granted, I went in on day two so maybe, just maybe all the great stuff got purchased yesterday?  Ha ha. Or maybe it never made it out to the floor?

As soon as you walk into the store, you see a 50% off table.
This is where the Vanillas were, the Hawaii line…and the Artisan Collection as well. Pure Paradise was here too along with that group of summer scents.  I looked, and passed.  I have so much body care still, I need to do my own SAS.
Don’t get me wrong, these are all great fragrances…and it is good they are back for a second go round for those who love them and need more. I was just hoping that my store would have something we normally don’t get.

The only 75% off table in the store  was off to the right and had a few holiday tradition items left in it.  A few FFM and some shower gels, not much else.  No bubble baths or swirl cream to be found. Plenty of Forever Midnight…yikes.

Truth be told…I did not care for what Bath and Body Works did regarding the deals of the day so I skipped buying any of this holiday leftovers.  I did take it personally that they took some great sales away in order to punish us consumers over the leaked information. I read what they made each week….they certainly did NOT suffer over the changes. Not nice.  And yes, $3.50 now for a FFM is better than the $4.00 price it was to be BEFORE Christmas…but it is the principle of the thing for me.

More 50% off tables with more oldies.
I saw two boxes of the fall candle minis marked 50% off  on the bottom shelf of this table but passed… $11.25

Directly behind the front table was the table of the Jingle Bellini, Strawberry Sparkler and
 Vanilla-tini.

And behind those, the A frame ladder filled with Sun, Air Sky items.

The soaps not in the wall were on tables off to the left by the sink and marked at 50% off. And directly in front of them was the table with the $3.00 TMC creams.

Behind the soap was the display of the now leaving Dark Amber and Twilight Woods for men.

Scent portables were 2 for $5.00 or 5 for $10.00 but they too were really picked out.

This table of dual packs of Wallflowers were priced at $6.00

These wallflower dual packs were priced at $8.00.  Why?  No idea…but I passed.

Candle prices were either 50% off ($11.25) or $12.00.  No $8.00 candles here. Why pay $12.00 for candles that were out on $8.00 candle day and were a bit cheaper when they actually launched earlier in the year? And why do some stores have bunches of $8.00 candles?

As you can see the candle wall is pretty empty…and messy.

At the register, the mist hand sanitizers were pried at $3.00 each.  I grabbed a few of the apple….I use them to sanitize tables when I go out to eat.

And the new Brazilian Collection Lotions were out at the cash wrap priced at 3 for $6.00. I will try them out later…

 Here are my SAS purchases….
Evergreen candles….because they never came in the store for Christmas time purchase…(and yes, I will say it again…nor did the Holly Jolly Christmas candles 😉  —and the mini candles were $1.50 and the bulbs $2.50

And the stores are now giving out the Bounce back coupon I shared a week ago that begins January 20th.

I used a $20 off of $50 coupon and my gift card.
Hopefully in the next few weeks (three until floorset)  the stores will get in more items and they will drop the prices on things they already have.  Even the pocketbacs were regular sale price, priced. Until then, I guess I will have to check out other stores to see what they are offering to fill my gift drawer.

Yankee Candle | Spring 2015 Fragrances | Sneak Peek

December 25, 2014

On the Yankee Candle website, a new sneak peek at some Spring fragrances. Here are some pictures and scent notes.
Let the sunshine in. Nothing seems as perfect as a big, bright and beautiful blue sky on a summer afternoon. The air always seems cleaner; the earth more fragrant. This bright fragrance captures all the glory of a heavenly summer day with the crisp, clean scent of summer berries and fresh ginger, enhanced with notes of jasmine, orange blossom and blue lotus.

Always the perfect ending to a summer meal, homemade peach cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream captures the essence of the season. This fragrance will bring to mind fresh-picked peaches from the farmer’s market, perfectly baked with cinnamon, nutmeg and honey sugar, and generously served with a scoop of your favorite vanilla ice cream.

Wouldn’t it be grand if every day was as sunny and fun as a picnic in the park? Imagine being stretched out on a soft blanket under a shade tree, while hints of your favorite fruits. . . mango, coconut and strawberry. . . float in on the breeze like an afternoon daydream. A refreshing delight, this fragrance will give any room a sunny outlook.

Tangy sweet and full of nature’s goodness, there is nothing quite as delicious as ripe, rosy red raspberries. Always a welcome addition when they are in season, this delightful fragrance lets you enjoy this blissful fruit’s freshly-picked aroma, with just a hint of sweetness, any time of year.
Kick off your shoes, feel the sand between your toes, and breathe in the green scent of dewy sea grass atop the sand dunes. Kissed by the ocean breeze and enhanced with a sliver of mint, this fragrance is as fresh as a morning walk on the windswept beaches of Cape Cod or the Outer Banks.

Cross Roads Original Design Candle Company

December 22, 2014
With a love of candles for adding fragrance to my home, I am always interested in trying out new candle companies products and reviewing them.

After hearing about the Cross Roads Candle Company earlier this month I placed my first large order with them on December 11th online.  I just received it December 19th.

I did call to inquire about their products and to find out what would be a great starting point to try these and twice I was sent to voice mail…and my messages were not returned.

So I checked out the site and picked a $100.00 worth of wax items. They do offer so much more than candles!

While I did get an email when my order was placed, I didn’t get anything when it shipped, so unsure where it was or when I would have it, I called on Friday and was told it was out for delivery. They ship Fed-Ex.

They do ship well, in a strong box with plenty of compartments to hold the items securely.  That I really liked.

My first item out of the box was a 26 oz. double wick candle priced at $20.99 in the scent of Sage and Citrus. I paid the additional $2.00 for a custom label and was soon disappointed to see I did not receive the correct label.
The 26-ounce candles have a burn time of 120-140 hours. Each candle is made with a very clean burning, blended paraffin wax which allows the maximum amount of fragrance.

I love primitive but this design was no where close to what I wanted.  I opted for the custom label rather than the standard company name clear label but a fat goose was not doing it for me.  🙂
I called the company and again, salesmen were too busy but a nice gentleman told me he would get me a new label in the mail and I can remove the other.  When it did come, it was much smaller in size for this size jar, but it was at least what I wanted.

I put it on and it looks nice. I did begin burning this scent today and it is a typical warm sage and citrus scent with some throw but not to the upstairs which was fine.  It was burning beautifully.

The next sized candle I purchased was the 16 oz. classic jar size and it is priced at $16.50. This 16-ounce candle has a burn time of 80-100 hours.  I grabbed this one in a favorite holiday scent of balsam fir.  As soon as I burn it I will post a review. This shows what the clear labels look like.

The next item I purchased was their crumbles and I could smell the scent of these through the bag. I chose the scent of “the comforts of home” and it is really beautiful.  What bothered me though was the condition of the bag.  It was really beat up.  I like presentation of a product, especially for gifting and this was not what I expected. This 6oz bag is priced at $8.99.

This is how much you receive.

Next, I purchased mini melts in three scents; Cinnamon bun, Santa’s Cookie Crumble and Lilac. These are priced $9.00 for 6 pieces. Each wafer weighs one ounce.

And finally, I ordered votive candles in two scents; Bayberry and Cinnamon, and Balsam Fir.
The Votives have a 15-hour burn time. They are individually wrapped and sold 6 per scent, priced at $13.00.
And while I haven’t burned these yet, here are a few thoughts on these.  The colors shown on the site do not match what I received, which was also disappointing. And maybe because I do candles so much, I tend to expect certain names/scents to be a certain color.  Bayberry candles to me have always been a green color….a warm green not light teal blue green.  And I expected a darker green color for the Balsam Fir candle votive as well. You can see the jar candle color of the Balsam above and it’s richer in color.  These look like summer colors.

I plan on burning all of these this week to get a feel for them and then I will come back and write out my thoughts on each scent and how they did with pictures to match.

Because I do a lot of candle burning and reviews in the past for other companies, Please note, these were not sent to me for free to review for the company.  I purchased and paid for all of these items and will post my thoughts and experiences with them as I try each item.

If you love candles too,
Please take a moment and check out Cross Roads Candles website for yourself and be sure to see all of their custom label designs for the jar candles. I do love that they offer us that chance to make each scent personalized to our own surroundings.

Thanks for stopping by….and happy scenting! ~ Tess

Department: Beauty | Walmart Beauty Box Winter 2014

December 22, 2014

I received my Walmart Winter 2014  Beauty Box  a few days ago in the mail…a bit more than two weeks since my credit card was charged the $5.00 for it.

With the sharing of photos on social media from others who have received their Beauty Boxes, there are two or three versions, so far, available.
This is the photo of what I received.
It would seem this box was filled with more samples than full sizes this time, but I am excited to try these brands that I may have passed up in the store.  The link to get your own Beauty Box is above, and I will post my thoughts on each of these products below as I try them. 🙂

Bath & Body Works | Saturdays Purchases

December 22, 2014

I hadn’t taken the time yet to blog about my recent purchases this past weekend so I wanted to be sure I did now while I am taking a heating pad break.

Let me just reiterate that the coupon with the $20 off of $50 was a huge help this holiday season, so thanks B&BW for that.

And on this quick trip into the store to deliver the little gifts to my girls I wandered around and grabbed a few things that I didn’t really need, but wanted.
I am not a fan of the Paris Daydream scent. But since I do own that jar topper with the Eiffel Tower on it, I wanted to be sure I grabbed a jar with a label that matched in case I ever need to use it as a set.

I have a pocketbac monkey on my back, yes, we all know that.  In seeing some of this past years scents back for SAS and tucked inside the nearly empty display, I grabbed a few more. And that cute raccoon holder.

And for those with Smart Soaps in store, (everyone else will have them by spring) The refills were now priced at $3.00 each rather than the sale price of 6 for $18.00 so I grabbed a few more.  We LOVE this soap machine. Same batteries working in it and we use it hard daily….and we finally emptied our first refill.  What is great is the refills stack nicely and don’t leak if you want to change them out before they empty. Now wouldn’t a lotion dispenser like this also be nice?

My store just called me, knowing I wanted a blanket that is offered today…and knowing I am not feeling well.  I did a phone order, got some True Blue Shea shampoo, and conditioner and the new silky shower cream…for free…added a sweet clementine large hand sanitizer for hubby and the blanket all for $30.00.  Pictures to follow.

Yep, Love that coupon!
Hoping your day is as comfy as a cozy blanket too. ~Tess
